As many owners of electrostatic speakers will know, sometimes humidity can cause our beloved speakers to missbehave.
Lesser known is the differences in UK mains voltages. Yes, we are all ‘supposed’ to be on 230V now but this is by now way the norm.
Mains voltages of up to 250V is not uncommon and if you think that firstly, on the ESL57, Your mains voltage is increased to 600V, and thats before it hurtles up to the 6000V required for the bass panels!
All of a sudden you can be giving your bass panels 6200V+! Add that to high humidity and the speakers will probably be making all sorts of unwanted sounds.
To combat this we are taking our version of the ESL57 power supply up a notch by providing a HT trimmer. This will allow you to drop the HT on the bass panels by up to 500V and around 250V on the treble panels.
As soon as this is available we will be posting on the website, so stay tuned.
